Help me sort my Alan cross out

Hmmmm I like the idea of switching everything over to mtb groupset, I know what I am at with mtb but guessing its going to be a sin and frown upon? Sounds like it could create a rapid alan though.

@paininthe : Do you have any piccy?

Thanks for the other advice I am looking at all options 8)

Sort one out tomorrow

Yes mtb group would be a fine substitute imo.

Or proper cheap you could buy an old Shimano triple chainset and remove the granny wheel you'll need a shimano bb too (you might get away with the Campag) but all in I reckon you'd only be looking at about £25 - £30. Bar end shifters friction would be easiest and set you back about £20.

Any high rise stem will look awful. If you change to a shorter stem that may help.

Wheels are the biggest problem I guess. My knowledge is limited as to what is suitable for cross but something like some MA3's I would think. Decent set of wheels is going to set you back £60+

You can sell your ergo's for about £30+ chainset for £20'ish (excluding bb) Wheels you should get about £50 - £70 (bit more if you include the cassette), thing is tubs aren't very popular so you may struggle a little.

My do it all, commuter, road and paths. Shifts and pedals lovely. Mudguards keep me dry.

Yesterdays ride, road, canal path, old railway and bridlepath.

Got a 3TTT stem in 80-90mm which might do - but it's not got the longest neck so would still be fairly low. PM me if interested.

get a stronglight chainset on it, will enable you to have a pretty low front chainring. Should be plenty around unless i have the worlds stock in father in laws shed

If i have you can have one of them for postage and the price of a couple of pints.

Cheers
Craig
