Can anyone help me identifying a Koga Miyata frame.

Interesting.

2 options: It is something special, a model that never appeared in a catalogue. You sometimes encounter such Kogas. I have them too. The second option is that it is a ProRacer level frame that underwent some modifications (pump peg, mech tab) and was given a repaint afterwards.

Very nice, seems to be a special build. The decals (if they are original) are similar to the 1983/1984 models from the brochures and the frame resembles a Gentsracer from that era, but with chromed stays and the extra braze-ons Elev12k mentions. Is the BB shell partly open? This might provide an extra clue. My 1984 Gentsracer has simple circular drilling, while my 1985 Proracer S has an M shape cut out.

this frame has a M shape and partly open bb shell

can you do something with the serial number?

It has M-shape cut outs in the shell? That is interesting. All ProRacers I've seen had round holes. Apparently ata's later '85 has M's, but with the '85 the stays connect differently, has single loop guides on the toptube and the shifters sit elsewhere.

What is the 1st letter of your serial?

No, just an "M" in the lugs and a few holes in de bb shell.

Just checked and I remembered it wrong (the Proracer is a recent catch, still in a stand for cleaning up), both have plain circular cut-outs of the bracket shell.

The 84 Gentsracer serial is L170114
The 85 Proracer S serial is M(followed by S, 8 or 9, hard to make out)54896

The serial number is: I240156
And the BB shell has 6 round holes in it

'I' denotes built in 1980. So a 1981 model probably. In the 1980 line up there was no ProRacer. In 1981 it returned.

A 'J' serial ProRacer >> under this link

L=83
M=84
