If you can find them, there is a shimano 600 cantilever brake that solves the narrow boss problem

It's a Dawes galaxy, not exactly cutting edge

I’ve only had Shimano 600 Cantilever once in my life, which definitely would solve the problem but they needed extra short shoes which were nowhere available. The shoes are fitted on the back, as shown in the picture, usual ones interfere with the forks.

Back of the pad/holder hitting the fork isn't the end of the world as long as there is clearance enough to the rim.
