Help identifying this Kona

I think this a 90's Kona frame. It's been powder coated lately and the only marking is the serial number on the bottom of the bottom bracket reading "H6 3528. Size is about 15" center to center and 17" to the top of the seat tube. Is it possible to tell from the picture and numbers if it is a Kona frame and if so, identify the model. Thanks

Anthony is the resident Kona expert so may be able to shed some light. Certainly appears to be, and presumably it's steel which makes it 90's and possibly easier to identify.

I'm no Anthony, but I'd say late 1990's mid to low end steel, something like Hahanna or Fire Mountain. Anthony will now tell you it's a 1980's top-of-the-range!

It's defo not late 80's or 90 since it doesn't have the seat bolt / little bit of rear cable guide routing that those frames have / had.

Since it doesn't have a cable guide at all for the rear it would have had a dog collar, therefore making it '91 to '95 I think (96 was the first year they had they I think).

The cable routing for the front mech isn't running off the top tueb either, further suggesting it's defo pre '97.

I would suggest that you have a 1994 Fire Mountain or Hahanna (both were the same) frame there.

Carl.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your information.

I am planning on ordering some decals and tinkering with it with the aim of having it for my boy when he grows a bit. I hope I can find a collar of some sort to route the cable to the rear v-brake.

Thanks again

Can anyone explain how they've identified the model?

The only information I've found on the serial number suggests that H6 means Hodaka (a Taiwanese factory) 1996. The only distinctive steel Kona frame in '96 was the Columbus Max Explosif with its ovalised, tapered tubes, and this isn't one of those - but without weighing it, how do we know it's not a Kilauea, for example?
