Hi all,

Well finally got some time this weekend to strip my recently acquired 96 Attitude in preparation for powder coating.

All went very well, until literally the bare frame was left. Went to take out the 6 water bottle bolts, no problems on 3 of them - major headache on the other 3!

Basically they are turning but so is the small washer underneath them which i guess is a rivet nut thingy, i can not see anyway of holding this whislt turnign the bolt. A friend has suggested drilling it all out and buying new rivet nut insert thingys (please what are they called??) but this sounds difficult to me and the thought of me with a drill near my Klein frame makes me shake violently..

What can i do ??

If your frame has a good size hole leading from the tubes with the bosses in into the bb shell I would dremel the bolt head and the rivnut flange off and the rest will fall into the frame and out of the bottom bracket - with a little shaking.

Easy job and not much chance of cocking it up / slipping like with a drill.

Easy job to put new rivnuts in. Either buy a tool and you then have it to keep or take it to an engineering shop / kit car builder etc :-)

WD :-)
