HELP! Broken Mech Hanger on GT Xizang.

Well, this frame has eventually made its way to me for repair.

Nice clean snap below the axle area, so just weld it back on.

Really porous Ti casting of the dropout:

Chamfer around the faces to get full penetration, leaving a small patch to help location:

Align it all clamped to my handy tobacco tin backpurge plate :) :

Clean gloves, plenty of gas shielding:

Tack and check alignment, then fully weld. Could be better, but shielding is difficult:

File back to roughly original profile, sandpaper and stainless brush to finish:

All the best,

Yay! Nice work.

Mine had a bit of bend in it a while back, giving it a tweek back to straight was a damn scary experience.

WOW! What a fantastic result. Thanks Dan, I know my mate is chuffed with the repair. I'll get to see it in the flesh next week, I can't wait.
