Helmets

If you want you can try mine on at Gisburn, I'll bring my old xen as well as their very different types of fit.
I always thought the xen was a good fit but the poc is way better fitting... but still think I could of got away with the next size down..... I'm sure my head is-ant that big

Cheers Vern , tried a Xen and it felt ok, tried a large Poc but it was too big (even though I could clamp it somewhat comfy ) so it appears I'm a med to small (which I knew from past motorsport helmets ), it's just such a bloody pain finding places that actually have any stock of anything nowadays .

I currently have a Giro Hex and it's a great helmet!! Well ventilated and very comfortable. The Xar is really just a more expensive version of the Hex so for me it would be the Xar if you are happy to spend that much. Also have a look and see if you can find a shop that still has a Giro Xen in stock which is the predecessor to the Xar. If they do I would imagine it would be going cheap. Giro all the way!!

Also have an urge dirt o matic, but the venting on it is nowhere near the class of the other one. Fraction of the price though!

That one looks very much like a horse riding helmet :?

Well Vern after hours of trawling the net and trailing round every bike shop within 10 miles and trying on loads of different lids I've taken the plunge and ordered a Trabec (not tried one on as nobody stocks them near me), if you say it fits better than the hex and is comfier I'll take your word for it , especially as you are similar to me in some ways and don't just blow hard earned cash on bling . Hope you're right !

Don't think you'll regret it... but you are a Yorkshireman and their not known for spending money

You'd better go and lie-down for a while

Thankfully it's a xmas pressie from the wife so I haven't spent my own money (a true yorkshireman for you there ), she was the one that decided I needed a new/better one so she's happy , gone from a £18 Go outdoors special to the Poc so in theory I should be better protected , her comment was might head is about the only part of my old knackered body that still works properly (sometimes) so doesn't mind paying to protect it .
