Well the missus managed to spot some of my riding whilst we were away over Xmas and has now decided I need a new/better skid lid so I'm after opinions on the newer varieties that come a little bit further down the back of your head, currently on the long shortlist to try on are 661 recons , fox flux thingy , giro xar and poc trabec (bloody expensive but not shure if ventilated enough for summer use ).
Suggestions and views will be looked at and noted so help please .

Might try a Recon for my next one.
I got a Fox Transition a year ago and gone from being a non-helmet wearer to never going out without one. Great protection round the back and sides, won't break the bank.

Giro Xar, that's the one I'm using when riding. My LBS has a big collection and I was not intending to spend a lot, but from the 10+ helmets I tried, the Xar fitted me the best. By far. It's the kind of helmet you forget you're wearing it.

What I find amusing is how the media is making All Mountain helmets out to be some sort of progression/innovation.

I've been using an urge endur o matic the last couple of years.

Quite like it. Would probably buy another one when it comes time to replace it. Especially as they do them in lots of funky colour schemes now.

Also have an urge dirt o matic, but the venting on it is nowhere near the class of the other one. Fraction of the price though!

I've got a Giro Xar as well, great helmet, comfortable on an all day ride, it's taken a fair few knocks and done its job, I'm going to replace it with another one !

I'm a MET man myself fully tested the Veleno out. Due to said testing I bought the Kaos as that was the cheaper of the two at the time.
They both have lower head protection to some degree. Not sure how low you want to go of if styling is just making some look more than others. MET do do a Parabellum with a styling that looks to go further to the neck.

Only thing I would say is try the damn things on. Don't just hope it fits. Also measure your head so you have some idea which size you're looking at. Have a thin preferred winter hat... Take that to and check it still fits in.
