My Samsung N110 thingy has a cold...maybe flu...maybe phnuenomia (sp?)
Noticed things going a bit pear the other day....click on a smilie and it would go to a search engine....funny stuff like that.
Run a full scan etc etc etc...Nothing found.
Today it turned itself off...or om..can't remember and now it won't start up windows.
Keeps coming up with the options
Start in safe
Start last safe config etc
but rather than start Windows it just goes back to same screen.
Is it fecked?

Sounds like it could be a virus or some sort fo spyware that has done this. The smile thing is a bit of a giveaway. Probably easier to re-install the OS than to repair it.

I had a similar problem a while back (I think its what finally pushed me to Linux). I managed to get the command promt up and use some DOS commands to get windows to work in safe mode, then transfered my keep files to a spare HDD, wiped and started again.

I'm just trying to remember how :?

If you need to boot your PC up to get files off then download this http://www.slax.org/ burn to CD. It'll boot an operating system to your PC running off RAM with access to your hardrive and internet.
 
if you can get into safe mode, maybe you can restore it back to a previous day, using windows restore
 
got the installation disk? if so, bung it in and start from scratch. If it doesnt have a drive, I think but probably wrong, they can be bootted from an external drive.
