Headshok help!

Easy folks,

Anyone know if these beasts will fit on a 1.5 headshok 1993 delta v frame, and if so will they screw up the geometry?

Help appreciated,

Cheers.

Yes, they will fit. AfaIk Cannondale haven't changed the actual size of their 1.5" headsets.

Whether you want to risk it is another matter. These forks will probably end up ripping the front end off the bike. Most bikes of that era weren't re-enforced enough to take triple clamp forks. Also the headshoks were only 60 or 80mm travel at the time.

i thought their over-sized headtube is capable to handle the triple clamp forks although the older frame models are not designed for.

It's nothing to do with the head tube. The tubing on bikes made to take triple clamp forks is slightly thicker and there's usually some kind of re-enforcement on the down and top tubes (like a gusset or something).

They in theory will fit, but i wouldn't. Partly for the travel, atleast 45mm longer than intended fork, which as you point out will screw up the geometry. Partly because as mentioned the frame wasn't designed for it. Stick with a normal headshok and it'll look cooler than these too 8)

Cheers chaps, as I thought... but just to push the issue... what about Lefty's on the same aforementioned frame?

Same deal? I know it's wrong but i rather like this one...

Leftys should be OK on the frame as long as you get some as close as possible to the travel on the original forks. They won't put as much stress on the frame as the other forks. Just make sure that you have some sort of protection on the frame/fork to reduce the chance of denting the frame when the forks swing around.
