Headset Help

Hello, I have a bear valley which needs a new threaded headset and the newer ones don't seem to fit, they are generally too tall and sit past the threads. The old one is by specialized though I am not sure what model, it fits but I damaged the crown race. If i could find a replacement crown race it would be worth getting new bearings and keeping it. can anyone help? otherwise, and excluding a CK which i can't afford, can anyone recommend a new headset or has other advice?

Easy,

The BV (depending on year) has a ritchey logic or in house marin USA one. notoriously 'low stack' at around 34mm- ish.

Sometimes, with all my shed of shit, i 'hybridise' headsets by using lower assembly from one brand and, top from another to get what i want.

Hope that puts some light on things.

I used to have the same problem with my Marin, they had cut the forks ridiculously short so that only the very lowest stack headsets would fit, which pretty much ruled out any of the nicer alloy headsets. Ritchey Logic typically came as the original equipment, so worth a try.
