Headset. Chris King or Hope

I had to junk a pretty old Hope headset as I couldn't get replacement bearings. CK don't change....

But Hope don't make bearings so someone must do them for them such as RHP,SKF etc....

Or do what I do buy a lifetime supply of spares.....

That was exactly the problem - no one made the right shaped bearings for them anymore

Likewise, I never thought that "Hope" was a good name for a firm that made brakes :o

That's because Hope is an abbreviation.

Never seen the point of King headsets. They were something special when most headsets were cup and cone types but now you only pay the extra for a name. :?

I've had no problems with Hope headsets. If you put a light coating of grease on the cups before pressing them into the frame they not only go in easier but they don't creak.

@tintin40: Exactly right. If we don't support the local companies it'll be the British motorcycle industry all over again.

King for me
But i wont jump on the bandwagon slagging them off cos i favour one over the other
you know where you are with a good headset.
If hopes hubs are anything to go by,their headsets will be as good as any in that price bracket, king included
But their parts will no doubt be hard to come by in a couple of years time :?

Tend to agree with that, don't think I'll ever shell out for a King

Always run FSA orbits, currently running an XL2 on my Charge and it seems very smooth and the seals are good.
