Has anyone had an inner tube explode?

There was no rhyme or reason for it, was fine when I put the bike away, had just checked rear wheel, all seemed fine, turned around to get something from my shed and was an almighty pop, putting it down to age as no real reason why it happened

I had one explode last summer and it nearly made me shit myself, luckily I was wearing my cycling shorts which are padded, so I wouldn't be able to tell the difference had I shit myself.

It literally sounded like a car sized balloon popping

I blew a 'lifeline' tube Sunday morning, was trying to get a Ritchey Megabite to sit properly on an Ambrosio CC22 - it was around 70psi though!

A colleague blew a tube in a 600x16 (think old tractor front tyres)... Tyre slipped of the rim when he was inflating, that went with a massive bang, so did his arm, and his left eye socket as a result. 🤕

Always double check the tyre is completely within the tube before inflating. I've learnt to do a visual check on both sides of the tyre once its seated on the rim.... I've had these explosions happen several times, usually indoors when the bike is not being used, but somehow it waits till you're right next to it.

The tiniest section of tube will slowly find its way out at road bike pressures, and similarly for MTBs. I've literally seen stars when they explodes, just like a cartoon.

New regs for lorry tyres say they are meant to be inflated first time in a cage for seating. they sodding need it too.

There is a trend at present among climate protesters to drill a hole in the inside of truck tyres on hydrocarbon tankers and the likes. it scares the crap out of me as at some point one of those sidewalls is going to let go and splat them across the road in a nasty red streaked mess.

yeh loads, sometimes even when a bike has just been sat there which always foxes me, had a few ringing in the ears for hours afters, worst one was when taking a back wheel off a mini bmx and split hub parts went flying at a deadly rate luckily no one was in the firing line

Definitely looks like a pinched bead. Had this a couple of times. Also happen when an old tube had been rolling about in bottom of rucksack for years and rubbed thin.
