Hail the Festive 500 and an epic Grand Fondo with Daj.

Re: All hail the Festive 500 - 2013

Well done 47p2, I've still got mine to do. I got up 110 Km on Saturday and was called home by the boss.

The Festive 500 - 2013 and an epic Grand Fondo with Daj

Daj and I did a Strava Grand Fondo last weekend. I left it up to him to create the route and what a route it was see: http://www.strava.com/activities/105555507

Daj had one of those Garmin thingies which recorded each and every gasp and nearly captured his last dying breath  An epic suffer score was recorded that day and will go down in Strava history as nearly off the clapometer, 304 can you believe it ?

The viewpoint at the top of Dovers proved to be a lonely affair as the Christmas pud took its toll, there was an excuse about needing a wee, but 30 mins of weeing in the bushes seemed a little too long, so I thought I'd better check to see if in fact that last dying breath was actually being recorded by the Garminometer and that I'd better call for assistance.

There were seriously large amounts of upping and downing done with a welcome rest stop and a pasty at the cafe in Stow. The route would make a wonderful addition to the Retrobike calender, truly epic.

136 km's and 1600m of climbing in all. Great stuff!

Nice work and well done completing your task. The bad news is the epic suffer score of 304 wasn't really that epic.

This was mine for the Gran Fondo

The 800 is great, can't fault it. I also bought myself a 500 a couple of weeks ago to use at the velodrome and so far it's taken me this length of time to get the hang of it as it's slightly different to operate

I srr you were close by Pershore on your GF quest, I have a mate who lives there, nice part of the world indeed

Next epic…..On the 4 Feb for a trial run of the Mendip Mauler.

There's a surprise round the next bend :D

I would post the route, but that would give it away.

There are some hairy descents and some really nice views, with a bit of uphill thrown in. Hopefully it will make the cut for a Retrobike Ride in March and it's best when the weather is grim and howling.

Here's a little clue, but you need to change the number on the sign a bit.
