gypsy blood

We used to emtpy the bins from local gypsy sites, always struck me how lots were dark skinned euro ancestry and lots were very pale Irish ancestry living together.

Most seemed very friendly and even gave us tips (beer) at xmas. Some that travel about a lot leave a really big mess behind them others get a bad name because of that.

Some of the sites their given are really small and it must be difficult for a traveler to get used to that.

They are fairly common around this area (Glous) and some of them have very formidable reputations and nothing wiil scare them.

pikeys, not many reasons to embrace them imho. but then again, im a time served tradesman who has qualifications and cares about my work.

travellers travel, others just leave a fekin mess and steal anything thats not bolted down and create social unsettlement.

sorry, not a fan.

The next time I see a whining student on TV, talking about the lack of jobs available for graduates, and start to feel a pang of sympathy, I'll remember this thread and that there is someone in this country taking a degree in photographing pikeys
Last one out, turn out the light

Bunch of good for nothing tossers if you ask me!!! I live quite close to Dale Farm....they haven't left, they have just moved next door....£18 million well spent!!!!!
They park where they want, they dump their crap in country lanes and entrances to fields, they don't pay taxes, they have ruined a very good local school where the local "residents" have removed their children because of problems. They are not friendly in any way, they attack postmen and tradesmen. Nothing gets done about it and the Police don't get involved because they are above the law. The local Laundret has been taken over by them!!
Travellers??......where do they travel?....I wish they would, back to Ireland!!!

The only people that stick up for them are the ones that are not affected by their actions!

Why does everyone get so emotionally sucked into their sorrow, and the problems they face? Most of them have massive houses back in Ireland that they visit once a year, which is the extent of their "travelling"

Its all just glamorization on TV for the voyeuristic Jeremy Kyle viewers of this world (and don't get me started on those degenerates either)

I think your friend should photograph the "real" side of them!
The destroyed families who cant sell their houses, the crap at the side of the road, the soap dodging serial protesting sponging off the state idiots that stick up for them........ who are just as bad IMHO!!!

This is my first ever rant on RB.... didn't enjoy it to be honest!!

We live in a town with 3 separate sites, my friend knows the other side of them all too well, as do I. I wasn't trying to defend gypsies in any way, just asking if anyone saw the bloody programme.

What its wrong with a photography degree? He is passionate about the subject and is working hard to achieve his goal of being a professional photographer. He has spent a fortune on equipment, all paid for by working hard before you jump on that one. He has done some high profile work already including pieces for Chanel 5 and Google and has set up his own business. I take my hat off to him for choosing a degree that will get him on the road he wants to go down rather than just going to uni to bum about for 3 years.so there

Some of them are ok, like all people there's good and bad.

Fair grounds, tarmacking, landscape gardening, waste services, other regular jobs, their not all tarmackers and thieves !!! that's just naive

There are different groups just like there's different groups of us that live in an area, plenty of housing estates with robbing scum on them where you wouldn't want to live. I would rather live near some of the local gypsies than go on 2 of the local estates i used to do the bins on...filth (now i'm generalizing '' council scum'') don't tar them with da same brush now , why don't ya !

You don't have to be a gypsy to be a thief ! do you now, we've got plenty of them too

Lewis, Greenstiles...

Totally agree with both of you, and your right there is good and bad in every society. All I'm saying is that its bad enough that they wont integrate and try to be accepted into the local community. Now we glamorize them and turn them into TV stars!!!!

I refuse to watch these programs purely for this reason.

Your friends' photo's are great Lewis, I hope he makes it as a professional, and I understand what hes doing from his brief. I've just had too much of the "down trodden" side of them recently.
