GT Zaskar?

I have just picked up a GT Zaskar but I'm struggling to confirm it's identity. It has a full numeric serial no on the rear dropout (0897 so it looks like a 97) and a flat cap. It has a decal saying it's US built 7005 tubing. Is this the real thing or have I been sold a turkey?

Pantera was flat cap and 7005.

There were some very small frames that were 7005 and zaskar but who knows

Re:

Pics too big at the mo. Will resize and post later. Serial no is on rear left dropout and is 03971259. It looks like a 97 bike then. Rear cap is flat.

Re:

Have been reliably informed from the GT group that the SN is a Zaskar 20". Also has the machines seat tube and 6061 stamps on inside if the rear stays. Phew!

Only the 92 Pantera had a flatcap. This guys bike is clearly a Zaskar if it's flat cap and 97 make year.

98 Pantera was also 6061 but had rounded cap

ROTFLWMBBB.....there is no Pantera in the 1998 catalog

There were no Pantera's from that era made out of 6061 period.

The 97 and 98 model year Avalanche LE and Avalanche were 6000 series aluminum and US made for the US market. Neither was available Ball Burnished. They came in Billet or colors.
