GT ZASKAR LE - 18"

Old School Hero
Hi,

Looking for a bit more insight into my newly acquired frame.

Its a beauty, well I think it is!

I have tried to pin point the year of manufacturing. Going my the serial number I take it as 1996? The rest of the numbers 6061 been the aluminium build and made USA.

I believe this is a bit of a rare frame and was quite expensive in its day?

I am in 2 minds to go ahead with a build or sell.

Can anyone please advise on any other info to the frame. I know there is quite a few GT experts! out there. Also as looking at removing decal, would his de-value it?

Photos attached.

Only thing is the mech. hanger has gone but am aware you only have to look at them and they snap!

Nigel

The first two numbers are the month of manufacture, then the next two are the year, so yes, it was made in January 1996.

Looks in very good condition.

The mech hanger is replaceable, so you just need to grab one and screw it on.

Why do you want to remove the decal?

Good'oh got a year, thanks.

Its nearly looking new. The slight scratch on the headset is as bad as it gets.

:D

Looks great. Don't remove the decals though as it won't look as good and it will lower the value should you choose to sell it.

Replacement rear mech hangers are available still if you look around a bit.

very nice ,they arent particularly rare (theres 5 of them in my shed for a start ) but it looks in good condition , so maybe scarce would be more applicable

you'll get hangers from BETD and others around 15/20 quid

so, whatcha gonna do with it then ?

build it and ride it and join in ?

nice frame, got a silver one myself, but a red or blue anodized one 8)

is this the frame that was on ebay a while ago listed as a 2003 bike?

how you gona build it up?

grtz, Danny
