GT Xizang LE?

There is no difference. They had LE decals on the frame sets a couple of years and that was all they offered those years so there really isn't a difference. Check that one exception.... in 1990 the Xizang had a Ti main triangle and bolt on chromoly rear stays and the full Ti version was called the Xizang LE that year. The Xizang was only sold as a complete bike in 1994, 1998 and 1999 (white frame with red and blue decals).

I saw one in person at the 1989 or 1990 Chicago Area Bike Dealers Association show and was told full Ti was coming the next year so I waited to buy mine. Very rare I doubt more than a dozen if that many were ever produced and those were done by Maurice LaVoy. (?sp)
A shop in Florida had one NOS built up hanging on their walls for years. They listed it on eBay three years ago and it ran three weeks before somebody finally bought it for $350 built up with top mount XT....Today it would have gone for over 2K easily. I've seen pictures of it posted on the German forum and a couple other spots online maybe MTBR too.

Oh scant and just so you know there are a couple of very rare LTS's floating around out there on this planet too. I was in So. Cal for the 1995 lGT international distributors meetings when they introduced the 1995 product line to everybody and early that morning one of the GT product team guys took me out riding near Laguna on an amazing bike. Fully TI front and back LTS it was an amazing ride but you can guess the price would have kept them from selling any/many at the time so it was never put into production. AKA that LTS tandem that's been for sale a couple times in the past two years.

If you scroll down this link you can see the catalog picture of the half and half Xizang. it was produced but like I say not many made and it was a 91 model. I have the 91 catalog with the same picture.

The idea of mixing ti and steel tubing is one that baffles me. A friend of mine used to have one of the ti/steel Mongoose frames and he was forever re-painting the rear end to try to stop the damn thing rusting. First it was from black, then he painted a stars and stripes theme on it, then it was plain laquer. Stupid as the front end always looked so nice.

Anyway... I wonder where that titanium LTS is? Thats the sort of bike that should be on here.

I'd say it's lot smarter to mix Ti and Steeel the Ti and carbon which they are doing a ton of these days.
