Picked this up in a late night ebay trawl, has a lovely splatter paint job but some surface rust, hoping with a proper scrub and polish there's a nice finish under there. Plan is to build it up with some period correct parts, but I'm not entirely sure what year it is, 92?

Re:

Treated the worst of the rust, built up as a test with bits from the parts bin. Doesn't look terrible, if you ignore the seat post.

Re: GT Tequesta

That’s really nice Mike! I like GTs in the smaller frame sizes like this, quite often see larger ones.

Re:

Few more parts added, 300lx mechs and chainset, not strictly period correct but were free

Re:

More progress, just need to wire it up. Next will be a front rack, then put it into service as a dad bike.

Re:

very nice, only ever seen one in this colourway when I was about 19, spec was full suntour XCE with the large spider cranks

Yours is a 1990, colour is called wild fiesta IIRC.

Enjoy

This is an older thread I found looking for the colorway of a bike I bought yesterday. Thought I'd post a picture here and confirm the Suntour XCE and Dia-Compe X1 original groupset. The bike I found is a medium sized frame GT Tequesta Wild Fiesta in nearly perfect condition, no rust at all... It has been sitting in a garage for a very long time and looks absolutely brand new ! Theres still stickers in perfect condition specifying the double butted cro-mo tubing used for the frame as well. Everything on this bike is stock except for the handlebar (flat like the original but swapped it for aluminum), the wheels, tires and pedals. Everything as been regreased and the brake cables changed. I'm in love with this bike !!
