GT RTS-1 Frame

I tell you, trying to ID GT's from frame stamps is IMPOSSIBLE

Under the BB of my RTS, I can make out the size and date, however under my LTS BB it doesnt make ANY sense. On the wifes Backwoods, nowt under the BB and just a load of gibberish on the rear dropout! :? Obvously, I'm not worried about the Avalanche

my 16" rts makes sense, but thats a USA one, however the my 18" one is a taiwan made one, and that makes no sense

All US built GT's should have decipherable markings.

So if the markings aren't there it means it's not US built... Should the RTS1 be US built, presumably yes until around '96 (or later)?

I'd still like to know the difference between a 1 and Team

I think the difference is only in the equipment.
Like the LTS 1 and Team, frames are the same, only groups are different. I made my LTS-1 a LTS Team.

So, would a genuine RTS 1/Team have a flat backed top tube stamped with GT (like a Zaskar); or does that only apply up to a certain year?

If some (later?) RTS 1/Teams do have the curve to the back of the top-tube, is there any other distinguishing feature? Should the frame be stamped with '6061' like a Zaskar or perhaps have the MMYYXXXX format serial number (again like a Zaskar and which i assume the 7005 frames wouldn't have)?
