A 18" GT from centre to top tube is actually 16" from centre to centre and this is stated as 16" by GT. Just confirmed by PM top tube length (21.5 C-C) which makes this frame 16" inch size for sure. GT measure frame sizes from C to C. And yes, it's more accurate in case of older GT.

This is one of those great RetroBike discussions where everyone is actually right

But just to cause trouble, I'd say that the most important measurement on a frame is the effective tt - size wise where you stick the top tube (within reason!), or where seat tube becomes seat post is basically irrelevant, it's the length which dictates your position on the bike.

Just my tuppenneth  I'll butt out now before derailing any further, sorry Andy!

Actually saw one of these frames last night and it was just stunning in the flesh 8) lad wanted £500 without any of the extras too

And where it is...

Trust me though, it's a stunner, much nicer than a Xizang

Runs and hides...

It's too small for me, only that matter, not to fussy how you guys measure it. Go to RB gallery and archive Rob and have a look on to old GT catalogues and measurements not the todays bikes website.
