I need a bike to commute on soon and hopefully it should fit the bill, but when I get the chance I hope to convert it into a single speed.

kara's ride pretty nice. singlespeed wise theres a few threads if you search but its pretty simple, you can but kits from some ebay sellers or bodge it together yourself.
