Popped around to see the parents last night. " Found an old bike of yours in the back shed, want to take it home?" Out rolls a rigid steel GT. Crude grey paint job. Further investigation (read scraping with a blade!) finds it white underneath. Must have been sanded before the re-spray, no evidence of decals exist.
Rear seat stay mounted U-brake. Non-Groove-tube. Serial # A034 2021.
I am guessing 1990 Avalance. Comments?
Measures 20" BB to seat tube, C to C. Too big for serious stuff for me.
Mix of 7 speed Deore DX, Deore LX, Exage 300 & 500 components.
I have a faint recollection of buying this for the RS Q21R forks it had on it so many years ago, but it is fitted with a matching grey crappy painted GT forks, so now I'm not so sure, unless they were supplied with the bike at the time.
Tange prestige tubing or not, still not sure what I am going to do with this one yet......
