So the frame that was kindly given to my by Rob Akin is about to under go a bit of a transformation. Now nothing is definite just yep but my thinking at the moment is a DIY can respray with Montana gold paint in florescent pink and blue. Now I have never spray painted anything before so it going to be interesting and any tips you can offer please do so.
All I know at the moment is that I need to prep the frame and prime it and that I need a base coat of white but other than that nothing. I have been looking a videos on you tube but if you know of any good link please let me know and what masking tape do I need to use.

If I go with these colours what colour for the decals? White with black edging?

Cheers Brian.

I'd probably go with all one colour for a first try, with componentry to set it off nicely. I'm buying the Montana flouro red for my rocky. I've been told its tricky to get a good finish with flouro paint.
The flouro red I'm using would look good on the GT.

leave it green and with the original decals.

powder coating it a single colour is not going to be much more expensive than rattle cans, and far more durable.

rattle can paint is thin, not baked and chips and scratches easily, and very hard to get a good finish.

my two cents, the GT yellow that the Bravado was painted circa 1992 is very nice, and classic GT. The Richter of the same year, also very nice.

Have had good results with rattle can doing 2 tone paint jobs.
Use the best quality white masking tape (not DIY shop own brand !) for the join and remove when it's just starting to dry. Covering the join over with a sticker also works well if its not too tidy (which is what GT used to do !).

Just been prising this up and it going to coats about £50 for DIY job using spray cans.

About £60 to get it powder coated in a standard colour. Yes it will look nice powder coated, just a bit conservative, run of the mill. I wanted some thing a bit different, a bit more pill popping whistle blowing raving 90`s style and a proper custom paint don’t come cheep, so I`m going to have to brave and get the spray cans out.

If I do 3 or 4 coats of colour and 3 or 4 coats of clear coat this should help with the durability.

What paint stripper? I have seen Nitromors mentioned a few time here?
