GT Avalanche questions from newbie

Hi just picked up what I hope is a bargain GT for £60 and hoping to get it sorted for my son. Hoping someone can help me with a few questions.


Can someone tell me what year this is?

The lockout lever is jammed videos suggest there in a no4 Allen key I need to adjust under the pin is that correct?

The rear brake is very soft when pressed squeaks and doesn’t stop. Is it worth getting it serviced or should I replace? I have had negative experiences with mineral oil brakes before.

The air adjuster above the top left fork and the red dampener under the right fork, what are these for?

New set of Clarks M2 or M4 are 70ish quid, swap the brakes, it will cost you similar to get them serviced if you can't do them yourself.

Forks:
first see you can turn the white plastic by hand with a pair of pliers. don't go mental, you don't want to chew up the soft plastic. if that frees off, it should then work with the remote again. otherwise
get the tool from SR suntour for the top caps and undo both sides.
remove the legs (take the red adjuster off there's a bolt head and then one on the other side)
slide the legs out and remove the damper on the right leg, the pin is most likely seized in the top or the damper is keput. if the latter, change the fork. if the former, give it some love with a bit of spray lube.

when you rebuild, squirt a small amount of fork oil in to the leg through the bolt hole before you put the bolts back in.

Those Clarks brakes is it pretty straight forward instal or do I need to mess about syringing oil and bleeding etc?

undo old one's, stick new ones on. they come ready bled. rear hose will most likely be to long, they do come with a ferrule so you can cut the hose down, but if you ask nicely at your local real bike shop they will most likely do it for a reasonable price that's still cheaper than a full brake service.
