grease and degreaser

I got a load of the Halford's citrus degreaser in spray and liquid form when they had a three for two offer. Diesel is potentially horrible stuff if you get it on you and certainly isn't biodegradable like the citrus stuff is.

I use two different coloured grease. This is so that if I'm doing something like SPD pedals, I know that all the old grease has been purged out and replaced by the new differently coloured stuff.

Lot to be said for GT85.I use Pace Fork grease too,its good stuff.I get through alot of car brake cleaner for degreasing and I do sometimes use a drop of diesel for an hour or so bath.When we go into town shopping I usually call in at the pound shop. 10 tooth brushes for a £1

An old roasting tray, an old toothbrush, and 5 litres of unleaded (minimum vend at the pump)...

...so long as you're not a smoker!

Grease-wise I use waterproof marine grease; you don't need to pay good money for proprietary cleaning/lubricating products!

AND before anyone carps on about 'elf and safety I've been doing this since I was 14, and I'm now looking at 50 from the wrong direction!

I have jerry cans of diesel/petrol mix, drained from people cars when they wrong filled. It's great for parts washing.
If I want a to degrease, as in having something completely clean for welding or using loctite on, I use brake cleaner. eurocarparts £2 a can, which has reminded me I am out of it.

If your washing jockeys with a solvent like petrol remove the seals first, they will swell.
