Im thinking of getting a GPS to get me round the Peak distrct when I move back up to Buxton. Are they easy to use and what should I go for?

Surprisingly easy.

Could have shown you mine at FOD (oo er..)
Have a Garmin Legend C. Couple of years old now, but great for peaks and stuff. You will need some map sw for the PC ideally to plan routes and see where you have been. I like tracklogs, though have more MM maps.

Im a little dim sometimes ... Does this mean the route we took at FOD the other day has been tracked and can be mapped?? :D

I have one you can download routes too, but not the Topo maps as no memory expansion.

This cut down OS map (topo) is expensive, and not sure how useful in reality.

Yes, what I logged at FOD can be downloaded and mapped. Think you can put them in google too now (assuming it had signal in the trees as they are line of sight...)

Easiest way is to plot a route on MM/tacklogs and download. Absolute doddle.
