Gout

Anyone here suffer / suffered?
I woke up this morning with a smile on my face and a song on my tongue...
Then I got out of bed; It felt as though I'd trodden on a broken bottle and then had my big toe smashed with a sledgehammer...
The Doc diagnosed gout, while taking great pleasure in prodding my foot while asking if it "hurt there?",
Plenty of water, and no protein, alcohol, or fructose, is apparently what I need. How long does the pain last? I can't lie on this sofa forever....

Sounds like Plantar Facilitus, thingy, however thats spelt.
In fact you should go back to your doctor and tell them that some bloke in the internet said they were wrong. They will welcome the challenge.

 I told him he was wrong!
I've had a pain in my Kidney area for the last few days, which is why I had an appointment this morning.
He didn't think they were connected, despite my being on heart drugs that have a common side effect of "renal failure".
My kidneys hurt, and the kidneys control uric acid in the bloodstream, an excess of which causes gout...
I'll go back in a couple of days and tell him he's wrong , again.

yes, i suffer with it......it is also the most painful affliction known to man!......it is associated with being fat and old but 70% of cases are hereditary and my mum has arthuritis problems so i think that is the connection.......it can last up to 2 weeks per episode and they reoccur for me about every 12 to 18 months.......good painkillers and loose socks my best advice.....it wont help greatly but i do understand your pain!!!! :( ......f

Think I've had a spot of that.
Hopping down stairs in the morning.

Seem to have it licked with some early morning stretches and decent shoes.

Plantar Fascilitis? I've had that, and it's a walk in the park compared to Gout. This is in a different league entirely.
