Googlemap scallywag magnet?

Why do some feel the need to drop a pin in a map to denote where they are in the first place?
Seems a bit unnecessary to me..... general location suffices perfectly well:
Manchester, Leeds, Bristol etc

Detailed info is asking for trouble

One other thing to mention - meta / exif data on jpegs may reveal location co-ordinates, too - if taken with something that saves this data.

Some digi-cams do, these days, as do many smartphones (unless you've turned it off).

I better stop riding my bike round town. As once seen every one knows its me and every thing about the bike.

Just stay inside, shut the blinds and curtains, turn off all electrical devices, build yourself a Faraday cage, and live in it.

Job done. Sorted.

i think maybe just take the RetroBike Forum down. its obviously causing mass hysteria.
i can see it on the front pages of the Daily Mail already:

"Bicycle web Forum linked to black market and underground immigrant networks"

that being said, the Sat Nav trick is probably worth doing. otherwise, just dont submit the info. Why is it an option anyways?

a recent bikes stolen thread highlighted the folow me home and nick my bike type bike rack for cars, its like an advertising board for theives.

Gonna struggle with mobile phone reception...
What's wrong with pen and paper?

We've lost that loving feeling with the written word.

Plus with all the gadgetry removed, and the Faraday cage around us, those pesky aliens, and Diamond Dave Cameron (well I've no doubt he would if he could... wouldn't we all?), can't try and control our brains.
