Girlies in rbuk

We seem to have a distinct lack of girlies in rb but is that because girlies generally are not computer anoraks

or..they are bike nuts but just ride and not forum

or..most of the bikes have crossbars and few have girly versions?

any ideas?

Or is it because whenever a lady member posts pics of a ride all you get is "phwoar" etc instead of nice bike/countryside etc that the blokes get.

I need to know I look good in lycra too :)

theken ive seen your pics
phwoar

want to meet up sometime?

unsure on why not many females on here
id put it down to alot of that genneration of women that would be into bikes often have no interest in how to use a pc

Ken, you look smashing in your lycra. That kilt you sported at MM the other year was simply off the scale 8)

Back to the original post. There are a few ladies on here, including a few which have joined us at various events. Think cycling is quite a male dominated sport. Collecting things tends to also be quite a male past time. Given retrobike is about both cycling and collecting it's no surprise to me it's quite male dominated.

That said if there are ways we could appeal more to the fairer sex I'd be keen to know them. Both in relation to the site and in general.

maybe a small advertisement in some sort of womens magazine?
you could advertise the group meets as keep fit efforts
offer free chocolate?

do we want more ladies on here ?
we had enough bother with MM(whoops ) marin man

Any female cyclist who takes the sport/hobby even remotely half-seriously rides an ordinary diamond frame same as us fellas. Less flex than a "women's" frame, y'know.

Fair point. Maybe things are a bit too "Sky Sports" [1] at times thereby putting the ladies off?

[1] Use of the phrase "smashed it" is only acceptable in terms of time trial PBs.

I could imagine the title of this thread putting some women off. And the eye candy thread. It must take quite a confident woman to post on this site.
