Giant MCM Team, ride impressions

Re:

I've got a couple of pairs of RaceFace cranks... nice.

Purple.... YUK! I got purple ano'd to death bitd and can't abide the stuff any more, it was a joy when other colours stared to appear.

I do have a faded black set on the Endorphin, will have to measure the granny ring spacers that I think I'll need

Re:

After a trip to one of my favourite shops, I came out with some new stainless steel bolts to replace the ones holding the seatpost to the saddle.

Was slightly panicked to see they were shorter, but thankfully proved to be long enough, phew!

Isn't it great when you solve a problem?
Only a little one this, but after a strip down and clean up, the hubs needed a couple of new cones. Bodies fine, thank goodness! Thankfully I had a spare rear one, but the front one that was on it's way out, proved to be a bit more problematic. Nothing suitable from the spare hub I had, but I did find one from a road Ultegra hub, on the left in the picture, the knackered one to the right

With that big dust cap on, it was never going to fit the hub. So I got a socket, put the cone on top,

And tapped it off with a hammer. Did the same with the cover from the dead cone, and fitted it to the good one, champion!

Result, one happy hub!

Cool! 8)

Also fitted the tyres along with the 12-26 cassette, then the mechs and did a grip swap around, as I think there may be too much yellow going on when the stem arrives. The yellow ones pictured are too thin, but I don't want lock ons, so will be searching for something else, should I stick with ESP. Finished off today by fitting the Avid SD7 V-Brakes, along with the XTR front mech.
Still not made up my mind about which controls to use, will see how it looks nearer the time.

Getting there,

Cooool! 8)

I love it up there. Stayed for a week near Pickering a couple of years ago. Great riding, and clean towns. Must go back there sometime, Chris!

It's a bit paler than the frame though, not so cool

Wish I'd got a red one now

I think maybe red grips with the sti.

Yellow grips just adds another shade of yellow to the bike. Maybe :?

What do you think?

Awaiting cranks now. Being silver, they won't clash with anything
