Getting stressed and need help with front mech

Standard bands are 28.6. 31.8 and 34.9

Occasionally you get "endless band" front mechs. There was an M900 XTR one but not an M95x

Giant went for a braze on mount because the tube was a non-standard size.

Re:

What are my options for a decent braze on compatible 9 speed mech compatible with my xtr952 24/34/46t crank? Is it possible that a 34.9 would fit or am I wasting my time trying? What about bottom bracket mount? Or was there a dura ace clone of the XTR 953 front mech that was braze on and 46t compatible?

It's the mount that's causing the problem, you just need to make on or adapt the one you have so you can clamp higher up. Be inventive.

Or scrap the XTR and try something nice like a compact Raceface etc.

Or see who lives near you and can pop around and try the large band mech (or a bike shop). To test before you buy anything.

For anyone not following, the frame mount is like this and designed for a Compact Drive setup.

The XTR model came with an style setup and a hole in the frame to bolt to, that's not available on this frame.
But I'm sure the frame could, like the rest posted, take the 34.9 large band.
Did they really make these frame wider?

You could try a more modern direct mount much and fabricate a clamp to fit it and your existing frame holes. You could also try making a shim for a larger clamped mech if you are sticking with m952.

Do any front mech with standard clamps fit the frame? If not are any bigger than the frame? Sounds like the only suction you have other than make something to fit the set up you want is to buy a shim to make a mech fit, or use inner tube/plastic or cut off seat post ends to make a shim from. Plenty of help is being offered, info on frame tube diameter will help us help you.

I have just been able to measure the tube for the front mech and it's 35.4mm is the XTR mech available in this size?

I reckon you could dremel the inside of a 34.9 band mech to fit 35.4

That's really not a lot that needs to be trimmed from each half of the clamp so I don't see why not. If careful you shouldn't be able to see any evidence of it when fitted. Make sure the filed edges are nice and smooth before fitting.

Re:

Thanks, now I need a 953 with 34.9 clamp and top pull if anyone has one in UK new in box or mint condition ideally :)
