I am very technically challenged so please bear with me, but how do you get already owned DVDs onto an iPad?

I've so far downloaded Wondershare VideoConverter Ultimate so have/am transferring DVDs to the computer. But, once completed, how do I get them into iTunes and then onto the iPad?

If anyone can help, please couch the response in terms of talking to a loved but slightly bewildered elderly relative.

You need to convert them to MP4 file format.

HandBrake is pretty easy to use. It has an iDevice preset. http://handbrake.fr/

I can't remember of the top of my head as I haven't ripped DVD's for awhile. I think there is a converter that will rip DVD to MP4.

Should have also said that once converted to MP4 drag the files into iTunes under TV Shows or Movies.

Because you didn't download them from iTunes you may have to right click - get info - options - under sorting tag as whatever the files are. then sync them to your iPad.

if you buy new DVDs they come with a digital copy id that allows transfer to iTunes/ android etc. Not tried it yet but looks pretty straight forward.

I only run windows based PC's and the freebie DVD rippers can be a little painful to use (if you're inept)

(like me)

Dont forget that the files can be upto 4gb each film (DVD) too so make sure that they are on a card or you have lots of storage on your device.

Or just buy an Android tablet and drag the movie files straight over, no fuss. ;)
what he said :D

Fair enough but I won the iPad in survey so reckon I'll stick with it as main use is Internet and reading although being able to watch, say, the Tour of Flanders 2009 would be handy.

Then sell it, buy an Android tablet, have some spare cash in your back pocket AND copy films on to the new tablet to your hearts content!

 ;)
