Trouble from the word go. Thats not what cycling is about. A pair of rigid forks never any problems. No fuss

Unlike a lot of people here, I like building and ogling retro bikes, but I dont ride them in anger. IMO Rigid forks = slow. Slow = no fun. If people like Turner and Bradbury weren't out there creating 'fussy' suspension systems then we'd all be over at STW or MTBR talking about the latest rigid fork design. Yawn.

If there wasn't 50-1 people stoked vs. bothered with the RS-1, the company would have gone nowhere. Same with Manitou.

This could turn into an argument of retro enthusiast vs. retro grouchiness.

But this what forums like this are for. A bit of looking, A bit of buying/selling And good discussion (argument) I think those world cup wins would have won even if they had been on Ritchey forks. Its the rider and how he use's what he's got.

The early RS fork (along with the others) were a PIA.
Great if you were a racer and only needed them to work for one race without a rebuild, but rubbish otherwise..........and flex?....Oh boy! :D

Things have moved on (thankfully) and the sport has changed due to those old rubbish forks though.

(Just wish RS had gone down the pan!)

I dont doubt that. What I think Tony meant after immediate R&D it was realized they were so awful the project needed to be scrapped...or that public opinion should have sent them packing. Basically, the RS-1 one sucked and was hard to maintain...but my 06 REBA rules...

So on that notion...

-My 88 Yeti cracked. Therefore the company should have folded as it was clear they'd never turn out anything worthwhile.

-My 92 Yo rusted through after the first wet winter. CC and Co. should have closed up shop.

-My 98 Hayes disc brakes sucked. Obviously disc brakes werent meant for serious mountain biking.

Its going to be hard to see my points unless you ride, alot, on new stuff.

That was only once. Frischy i know was a better rider.

The joys of living in a liberal democracy are great. :D
By the way has any body tried to visit this site in any other countries like China? I'd be interested to see if blocked. As their not keen on "chat' rooms
