Gear Cable Routing

No cables on this bike when I bought it so just about to fit some.

Downtube friction shifters. Front mech....that's just an inner down to bottom bracket guides and up to mech ?. What about the guides ?, does anything go on them to protect cable.

Rear mech, Shimano 600 EX, just inner to BB guide then to rear guide before dropout, then inner and outer to mech. Bought a Shimano rear mech cable ajuster but doesnt fit. Doesn't seem to be one on 600 EX as far as I can make out.

Pete.

Cables

Hi mate
Not really sure what your cable guides look like but there is generally no outer on them, just inner cables over or through them.
For the adjuster I dont think there is one, if its not obvious then there probably isnt.

something similar to this, just a bit of grease I suppose.

Could someone enlighten me about splitting chain links.
My chain is KMC 8 speed super narrow. It was split links back in the day.
Now do I use master link or split link or what. Thanks.

Cable routing - a bit of grease.

Chain - I do it the old fashioned way on 8 speed stuff, just use a chain tool. You can use the split link doofers if you want, I don't bother.
