Every time i build a bike it ends up a heavyweight   ,except the latest build that ive got to under 10kg,it does have a carbon rigid fork and im only using rear gear set up but i want to fit the front gears and a nice sus fork but it looks like that will just put me back at square one :(
Im really only needing an all round type of bike, much like the clockwork set up i used to run.Gears, sus fork, discs :?

For fellow long legged members-
Post up your best build weight :D for sus fork/and or rear.

Sadden me further :(

My large Volvo cannondale is probaly the lightest geared/suspension bike at 22lbs with chunky rubber, it's easy to get these to 20-21lb with basic changes. Rigid single speed is the way to go if you want mega light weights though.

My Manitou weighed about 20lbs in MTB race guise depending on tyres. And (iirc) sub 19lbs with Conti 26" Gran Prix folding slicks. Used to fly uphill but would often give close to brown trouser (or shorts) moments on the way down

Last time I weighed one of my bikes was on a bet with a friend over who had the heavier bike back in 98. My San Andreas DHS weighed 48.5 lbs. His Schwinn Straight 8 beat me by 1.5 lbs. (it weighed in at an even 50 lbs.), but I called shenanigans, as he had at least an extra pound and a half of redundant zip ties on it.
