Funky Steel Frame Designs

Graeme Obree's Old Faithful in original and 'Superman' variants. For shame in the latest GCN video 'bikes that were banned and changed the world' Obree was barely mentioned, and of course Boardman getting all the plaudits.

Cool! How are the forks/headset set up? I'm assuming it's a copy of the Takhion with an expander type system?

A super rare Colnago Master Bititan Mapei, this is the steel version of the famous carbon Bititan. Apparently Tony Romingers favourite frame to race.
Sure looks like Ti to me. That's what the "titan" in Bititan refers to after all.

When I worked at a shop that made custom Ti frames, we repaired a couple Ti Colnagos, one of them a Bititan. I was not impressed with what we could see after opening one up. Not great cleanliness, inadequate inert-gas purge inside. Well, that and they broke, which is of course why we were opening it up. Without adequate cleaning and purge, the welds are brittle.

I heard a rumor they were welded in Russia, anyone know for sure?

I might be getting it mixed up with the Master Dual, another split tube variant. I've heard a few rumours about the Ti Colnagos heritage, but I think the Russia tag is probably false. Passoni built the Bianchi Titanium frames and I've heard they had a hand in at least a few of the Colnago builds. Of course the official Colnago website tells a different story, as do ask the major 'premium' second hand sellers but I think the Passoni link is probably on the money.
