hi, can these be taken off the band and used on the braze on type?

I have no problem in removing the clamp assy.

If they are anything like the later ones from the early 70s I'd say a cautionary no. I tried with mine and they wouldn't fit any braze on pegs.

This will almost certainly not work, unfortunately. The levers and washers can be removed from the band, but the levers stops/cable guides - the black parts you see mounted first on the band - are almost guaranteed to be fixed to the clamp and will not have the square central section you'd need to mount on the braze-ons.

You can take a chance and try to find a pair of backplate/stops - Nigel at camplyoldy has them at £1.20 each side - but it's still not guaranteed that this approach would work.
