FS Royce ti BB (not for sale)

Just how does one "work out their chainline" ?

How do you know if this axle length will be ok in a particular setup? For example if running a bog standard 135mm rear hub with 8 speed shimano cassette, if you swap out a standard 113mm shimano bottom bracket for something with a 116mm axle, will it be OK ?

To be honest I was going to look at my existing setup, a 113mm which currently presents issues using a duo chainset and then try to see if a 116mm will give enough space to resolve the issue.

I have been talking to Cliff @ Royce recently and he suggested I pop down and see him and he will fit the perfect axle for the job...but @£70 this is a much cheaper option....should it work out.

Dont worry guys i'll keep you informed.

Chainline

Sorry to butt in, but if your on a 68mm shell, these have a fair bit of adjustment both ways, as the cups are both moveable ,so 5mm or a bit more is available either way.
So long as your Cranks/rings clear the stays will be ok if the chain line is a bit out. only really matters with Single speeds anyway.

Or running a double and wanting to use the full range of the cassette (yes I know it isnt best practice but I like to have options.)

Chain line

A double won't matter whatsoever either, just re align the axle in or out with the adjustable cups. The two front rings with the correct rear ratios should also overlap, so no need to use all combinations.

Hi guys, think I have decided to do my original plan, Take Clif up on his offer to go to the factory and have him fit the perfect BB.

Sorry Tony I meant to PM you yesterday but forgot! Still looks like there plenty of interest and I am not surprised at the price!

decided to keep as i got the weight down to 170 grams which is the sort of weight a ti BB should be.
I removed the silly R alloy middle spacer. So back in a Trimble :D
