Old Ned
Old School Grand Master
For sale is this very nice small (20.5" c-2-t seat tube, 21.5" c-2-c top tube) Bob Jackson 'Lugano' model frame dating back to the early 70's I reckon. Chatting at the weekend to an old BJ frame builder he said the tubing is a special light Columbus steel (it seems very light to me) and the lugs are Prugnat which have been drilled out on the spearpoints and sides and chromed. The forks are round section with a 'plate' style crown which is chromed as are the blades. However, the crown plating has suffered but the blade chrome might be salvageable with a bit of work. The rear ends are Campagnolo vertical and the chrome is good. Seat stays are semi 'shot-in' with an allen-key bolt. Rear ends are 120mm. 27.2 seat pin.
Structurally it seems sound, the bottom bracket threads will need a clean out as will the fork threadings but all this should be done with a respray etc. which it deserves. If it was 2.5" bigger it would be staying with me!!
A page from the period Bob Jackson brochure is added which shows the original 'standard' white finish which still shows in places under the black.
As well as offering for sale I could also be interested in a swop for a similar quality and period 23" frame?
If selling, then I reckon on £85.00 including carriage to a mainland UK address only, payment by cleared cheque or cash only. See the post below regarding a chunk of the sale money going to charity.
