Front suspension or rigid forks??

get a bike with suspenders that will fit your single speed, then you can swap and change as you please. makes life easier if you can use the same type of headset on each bike.
 
I struggle to think of a reason not to go suspension to be honest. The weight penalty is fairly minimal unless you're obsessive about bike weight whereas the comfort benefits are worth it, particularly if you're buzzing along rough tracks, bridleways, etc.

Rigid has a certain charm but there are definite downsides. After all, if suspension isn't needed then lets all ride CX bikes with uber thin tyres....
