Front mech set-up

CRC are saying the retro hanging X9 has 44T capacity, should I don't see why 46T is a problem

Every problem needs pictures though, raise it if needed.

SRAM have lots of engineering pictures and fit specs if you need http://www.sram.com/sites/default/files ... _rev_e.pdf

SRAM cannot decide what the max tooth is

Typically it's a problem caused by both the curve of the cage (designed to match a given chain ring size) plus also the seat tube rake. Heavily laid-back seat tubes tilt the mech back so that the tail then hits the chain ring. The only thing you can do is lift it a little. No other adjustments will stop it fouling the chain ring.

I had a similar problem when the tail hit the chainstay.

Went to the mechanic

As hamsters saying it is too low :D Normally the front cage is about 2-3mm above the teeth of the outer.Set as standard the inner part of the cage fouls against the top of the teeth.Solution is to raise it so the lowest point of the inner cage sits a mil or two above the teeth of the inner ring but not too high at the front. Then it is a matter of setting the high and low to compensate.

As fluffy points out it will happily adjust to 46T even if the stated capacity is 44t :D
I'd say the problems stems from the 36t ive put on in that this mech would have been designed around something like a 22/32/42 :?
Willy also found the outer had split at the ends under the end ferrule so he trimmed it back.New cable fitted and it all changing beautifully :D
Cost £0  8) 8)
So i bought £40 worth of lights :D

Cool. Sounds like a decent LBS you have there Dyna.

Not like the local rip off merchant here who charged me £2 for a small bag of balls. :(
