Front mech set-up problems

Hi guys
Im working on my latest project , a 94 S Works FSR and am struggling with front mech set -up
I have been building bikes for years and never had a problem before but this driving me mad !
Im running M950 XTR rear mech / chainset / shifters and an XTR M900/901 front mech .
The only " problem " i could see is the M950 runs 24/34/46 and the M900
26/36/46 , does the M900 struggle with this 2 tooth step ?
I just cant get it shift properly , it either rubs or wont downshift cleanly  any ideas ?
Cheers Paul

Where does it rub? Front mech cage to the middle chain ring? Or chain to mech cage?
Did you measure the chain line? (first things first :D )

Well im using the same wheel / mech/bb/crank combination i have used on a few other bikes without a problem , it seems chain to mech cage but also if you get the middle set it wont drop to the granny or you set it to drop to the granny and it wont shift to the middle

Re:

There is a guy on here, his name is Paul Talbot, if you can find his details you can send a PM.

He is my 'GoTo' guy.
I have never seen better gears set-up, so slick!

Sometimes on full suspension bikes the front derailleur will rub in the repair stand no matter what you do and seem like it is impossible to adjust correctly but when the suspension is loaded it will work correctly.

The m901 f.mech requires different cable pull to the m950.

It happens

a lot.
Thats interesting to know , makes me feel better :D i have never had that trouble before ! the m950 just worked straight off .
