Front mech band dia for 94 Explosif

Anybody know what front mech size these take? The lower part of the seat tube flutes out & is not exactly circular.

cheers but I think that's the diameter of the majority of seat tube but mine flutes out at the bottom & is a good few millimetres larger?!

i think they were specced from new with a high-band front mech? catalogue is on konaretro for reference

Just states shimano xt on there, I've already looked.
Hmm maybe it is a high band front mech but in which case it will foul the bottle cage mounts.

cool cheers dude, my seat tube is 29. something so guessing I need a 30.00 high band front mech if there is such a thing

don't worry, a 28.6 conventional-swing fm will fit and shouldn't foul the bottle cage, it's what the bike was designed for.

After all, a top-swing only fits about 5cm from the end of the tube, so if the tube is externally-butted, it's likely to have more than 5cms of butt and the band of a top-swing would have to fit over the external butt. Whereas a conventional-swing fits more like 12cm or something from the end, where there is no butting and basically all steel bikes have 28.6 seat tubes, so a 28.6 conventional-swing fm is what you need.
