Front mech and shifter compatibility

Front mechs have always been differnet between road an MTB. The usual trick with road shifters and MTB front mech is to clamp the cable on the wrong side of the bolt, effectively making the lever arm on the mech shorter. It helps further if you file a little notch for the cable.

Thanks, I'll try that.

And apologies, I seemed to have hi-jacked the thread - it wasn't intentional.

Regarding the original post, does anyone know if a left shifter from a 10 speed groupset will work an 8 speed front mech ok?
