Friday night is nightride night!

Re:

Well in the latest episode of knight rider, Michael was without his trusty wingman Devon who sounds like is needing a hip replacement.

However 2 other fearless heros stood in for a frantic adventure round glentress.

Mild weather at start, we were the only folks on the trails, then bit wet later on. Trails riding braw as well. Did the blue route with a wee double helping of berm baby berm.

Great stuff.

Next episode in 2 weeks time, tune in and join up to enter the shadowy world of a man who does not exist..

Re:

Well, according to a doaktur at the hospital yesterday I have a haematoma that's about 3" long by about half an inch thick (I said haematoma not knob).
So basically I have a wee black puddin on my side under the skin. It's gonnae take weeks to break up, asked him how long, him "how long is a piece of string?" Just as long as it stops getting any sairer.

Now a wee rant. Decided to go to the Minor Injuries Unit at Queen Margaret Dunfermline as it was a week and a half since I did it so wisnae an accident or an emergency and I wanted to avoid cluttering up A&E in Kirkcaldy. Gives all my details to lassie in reception, location of injury, cause, time.
Wait to get seen then when it's my turn I'm told that since it's on my hip/side they can't look at it as it might require an X-ray and they can't do that there. They wouldn't even LOOK at it to give an opinion to see if I needed a possible X-ray. I have to go to the Victoria's A&E to get it seen to. So drive all the way to Kirkcaldy, same procedure at Vic, wait then seen by doctor who looks at it, has a fiddle with it (ooh er), tells me the result. FFS QM could have done that at least to decide whether an X-ray was required elsewhere or not. The time it took QM to tell me I had to go to the Vic is how long it took the doctor at the Vic to assess me. Waste of precious NHS time/resources.

Re:

I'm sure if I'd fell in a dugshite Rob wid have mentioned it as he was riding along behind me so wid have tae smell it.
On the other hand maybe he'd have thought I'd shat myself.

Seriously OCP, the final section at Carron Valley is called the 'Runway' a fast section of bermed corners, dropoffs, table tops etc with a series of badly executed doubles on the final stretch. The trail centre was built by volunteers who have learned on the job and generally made a pretty good job but there are bits that show inexperience. The doubles are just a wee bit too far apart so that if the rider is not going fast enough he/she often doesnt land both wheel on the downward exit slope so that either the front drops in the gap or the rear drops in leading to potential for crashing. A double is afterall a tabletop with the centre hollowed out. Your ideally supposed to float over this space not in contact with the ground not drop in it but the two peaks are a wee bit too far apart. This may have since been addressed as its a couple of years since last I was there but its something to watch out for.
Other sections dont 'flow', which is something you often do get at trail centres.
Generally very enjoyable though its mainly a slog to the top then pile back down kind of centre.
As for the jibe about you crashing, I've never been on a run with you where you haven't had at least one 'tactical dismount', so I'd say I wasn't being unduley harsh. MTB wouldn't be fun without the risk of a good pile up
