Nothing too exorbitant, though, as I got the bike for nowt.

Trying to get a 70s French road bike up and running again. Last piece of the puzzle is the freewheel. It came with a close ratio 6 speed (max 18t) freewheel but it is too wide and the axle has been spaced out on the drive side to make it fit the frame . Even then, you still have to pull the ends apart to get the wheel in.

The wheel isn't correctly centred, due to this, and packing out the other side isn't really an option without cold-setting the frame. I would prefer to return it back to 5 speed and avoid any more faff.

I don't like to push too big of a gear, if it can be avoided, (knees  ) so looking for something 23t or above.

The Pellissier large flange hubs are one of the better parts of the bike so I don't really want to change them so I'm stuck with French threading.

The original freewheel isn't up to much, unfortunately.
