A while back a fellow Retrobike member offered me a great opportunity to own a Cirus E-stay frame. All I had to do was pay to get it to my door, and the thing wouldn't otherwise cost me a dime. That's right...FREE! Well, since that time, not only have I not put any work into my own Rocky Avalanche (or the Brodie, Yokota, the two GTs etc etc!) but I haven't done a thing with the Rocky, and I've not been able to convince my wife to ride vintage.

So...time to make this generous offer right and get this great frame into the hands of somebody that will do it justice and not just hang it from the rafters with his other 5 unfinished projects! Pay it forward so to speak!

FREE to good home. This straight and solid 17" Rocky Mountain Cirrus frame!! Needs TLC but it is a good platform for a restoration and would make a solid retro bike. What do you need to do? Easy! Post up a quick blurb explaining why you think you are the rider to match with this frame, and then cover actual shipping cost to get it to your door, anywhere in the world, and I'll do the rest! (well, almost all the rest...I'm going to make the previous owner help me choose the best reason you guys come up with, but shhhh...he doesn't know it yet!)

You want free Rocky? Tell me why, and make it a good! :D 8)

I am but a poor lowly soul......my clothes smell of wee and my father beats me when he's drunk.......please let me have it to stir my gruel and keep warm on the cold nights ahead........any good?..... :)

Nice!

I had an experience, and they polish up very nicely! Since that departed I have since obtained Syncros, forks, bars, stem, waiting for the right frame to come along and join my other Rockies.

This will make someone a great project, but would be like going back to an old girlfriends sister, hence, this isn't for me.

Great karma guys :)

When I first read this thread I saw the frame and I had a few depressed thoughts and decided I wouldn't post. Mainly because I didn't think anyone would bother to give something so special to me. Ok not very positive but that's how I felt.

I've re-read it and changed my mind, and have now decided to write down those initial thoughts to see if they ring true with anyone else. I suppose it might sound a little cheesy but it is genuinely what I was thinking.

When I started riding back in the early nineties I could just afford to buy a low end bike and upgrade it bit by bit as parts wore out. My current GT Tequesta is a recreation of my first adventures with this process.
Like everyone else I read my MBUK and saw tests of bikes like these. Always wishing I could afford one but realising that I'd always watch from afar.

I always had a special love for the Rocky Mountains as they always looked just right and seemed to ooze quality and attention to detail. It didn't really matter that much that it would always be a dream to own one, I loved my GT and most importantly I loved to just get out and ride. I suppose like most others on here we are trying to relive those early memories, both good (first rides, learning to ride off road) and bad (rubbish brakes!).

Anyway, flash back to the present and I find myself with those feelings again. I can only just afford to recreate my GT again, because even though I have a paid job I still have bills and food to pay for.

I'm now looking at this frame and thinking "wow". I feel 13 again, a little apprehensive this time as there might be a small chance I could own one of the class of bikes I still can only dream about.

It won't matter if don't get it, life will still go on and I have my GT to ride. I would just hope that it would be built up by someone who shares my crazy passion for bikes, and that it will be ridden often with pleasure, not a piece of art on someones wall or tucked in a garage.

But, and I almost not dare type this, if it were to be delivered to my door, you would make a 13 year old boy very happy indeed.

Thanks.
Rob. :-)

Ummm... I'm an e-stay addict & offering this beauty up is like waving a bag of rock, a syringe, a desert spoon & a cigarette lighter in front of a crack addict! I'm scratching at my elbow pit right now. Makes it bloody hard to type! (*Left eye twitches uncontrollably*).

But seriously... (*left eye twitches again*)... I would really love this frame & would undertake a period-correct, ground up rebuild with top-notch bits to do it justice. It'd take a prized place in my e-stay collection.

Oh, yeah. And i'd happily 'pay it forward' by gifting out something nice from my own collection to keep the ball rolling. It's only fair!

Rocky!Rocky!

:D Hey-heres my story....deep breaths and hankies at the ready...

I was made 'reduntant' a few weeks ago....not a massive problem.Spare me the violins...
I had to sell my retrobike to pay this months rent. Now THAT broke my heart!
   etc...(go on then, insert full orchestra here...)
Then i got good news...im starting my new gardening job in two weeks.Happy days!
Then better news....need a bike to get to new job 8 miles away...got a Parkpre on t'bay for...£30! and :)
Followed by bad news-ruined seatpost and split/rust frame on the parkpre,BUT excellent spec all round otherwise.Now...where can i get a frame to fit all these lovely retro bits to as cheaply as....?

I dont have a car.Public transport makes me nervous(full of workshy psychopaths).Walking is too complicated(what do you do with your arms?)I cant even walk 2mins round to the shops.....it doesnt feel right.I need a bike!

Do i sound desperate?Good...i am.
Will i donate £20 from my first pay packet to a charity of your choosing as a token of my appreciation?Yes...i will.
Do i solemnly swear to ride the bike to and from work every weekday and all over the Antrim mountains at the weekend?Aye.
Is my favourite film Rocky?Uh-huh.
Is my favourite style of cloud Cirrus?Yep.

The End.Or the Begining.Up to you!
