One of lifes good guys has died.

RIP Frank.

What strikes me is that, in all I remember of him, I don't remember him every being negative about anything.

Bit like the Dalai Lama.

Very few of that generation of entertainers left.

carson in chemist....'can i have some viagra please?'

assistant.....'do you have a prescription?'

carson....'no......but i do have a photo of my wife'....

oh, and.....

man goes into b&q and asks for nails......assistant how long he wants them......

'....i'd like to keep them please'.....

i was discussing this today with my dad....he bumped into frank carson in a doorway at manchester airport some years ago....my dad apologised and without prompt carson said to my mum...'hes better looking than the man i saw you with last week!'....and just walked off.....my dad was still laughing at it years afterward....

I see what you're saying, there - there's this lie that won't die, that humour and jokes have to be ridiculing or doing somebody else down - but there's comedians of Carson's era and ilk that dispel that myth, and still manage to be funny.

I've met him a couple of times - but I was only about 6 or 7. My first year, junior teacher, was his daughter (who actually was a very good teacher - I got the ruler off her twice for misbehaving, but she gave me the most glowing school report, ever, and, as I recall, was probably one of the best teachers I had at a young age), and he came into school and our class a couple of times (this would be around 1976 / 77, at a guess).

I also remember he was a regular on that Friday night comedy show with stand-up comics on (The Comedians?).
