Just aquired this frame from a friend, was going to be chucked by the bike shop he works in, now trying to figure out whether it's genuine or not?

The facts:
Bottle holder bolts are sprayed red (does this mean respray?)
It looks powdercoated to me rather than enamel
Weighs a fair bit!
No serial numbers under bb

Any rockhopper experts in the house?!

cheers

Looks like a Rocky to me - about 1990. 1" headtube, cable stops in the right places, seat stays join the seat tube just below the top tube. The stay profiles and bends are correct, and it has those odd blocked-off dropouts that Specialized used on Rockhoppers and Rock Combos. Have a look at this one:

I suppose it might be a Hardrock.

I reckon.

Ta for the info fella

Reckons it could well be a rockhopper then but strange how it has no serial number & appears to have been resprayed at some point

It's getting on for 20 years old - it's not so unusual for a bike to get resprayed once in 20 years. If the powdercoat's thick, the serial number could well be hidden underneath it.
